What Cobie Smulders’ Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis Does for the Rest of Us

Written by Anika Brahmbhatt
Posted on April 19, 2021

Cobie Smulders is among the celebrities who have talked publicly about battling ovarian cancer. By taking this courageous step, she has made the ovarian cancer room bigger, contributing to awareness and discussion of the condition around the world, and helping others with ovarian cancer feel less alone.

The star of “How I Met Your Mother” and “The Avengers” said that she’d been diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 25, and after beating the disease, she went on to give birth to two children. During her treatment period, she underwent multiple surgeries and overhauled her diet, she noted.

Surgery is a common topic on MyOvarianCancerTeam. “Very happy to have surgery scheduled,” one member wrote. “There will be more chemo and maintenance after, but steps in the right direction.” Another said, “Going to keep things on track and make sure to stay healthy for surgery.”
